In this corner of East Aegean, you will experience a truly unique Greek island. The history of this land rises from the depths of centuries. The archaeological findings from prehistoric times, which adorn the Archaeological Museum of Chios, the ruins of ancient temples, the medieval villages in the southern part of the island, the Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches and monasteries, the Muslim mosque in the city center, the castle and the famous Kampos of Chios, with the Genoese architecture and style mansions testify to the complex and peculiar character of the island. The combination of Aegean blue and the green of the Chios plain creates a harmony that will lead you to endless hours of sightseeing and exploration. Your choices are unlimited and exciting!

The island's natural environment is spectacular and the beaches are not letting expectations. The coasts offer a real paradise for all those who love either large sand beaches or those with the wildest beauty. All the beaches have crystal clear water and clean sand or pebbles. What is certain is that wherever you go you will have the opportunity to relax and unwind.

There are also many lovely and secluded bays from Karfas with the endless sand beach to Mavra Volia, the beach with the black pebbles. Chios has fully equipped beaches for tourists and small coves where you can find absolute peace and quiet even in August. Of course your excursions on the island will always be complemented by a walk to the local picturesque villages where you can taste traditional local recipes. Moreover, Chios is famous for its cuisine and its (homemade) desserts par excellence. The island of mastic and Homer, fragrant Chios boasts about its history, its excellent climate and unique landscape. Chios becomes a unique destination and wins an important place in the hearts of those who visit. It is no c o i n c i d e n c e that many of our guests come for the umpteenth time on the island!

In the southern part of the island, you will find the Mastic-villages and you will watch closely the mastic trees or "skinos”, the local word for mastic tree. You will listen from the residents the production procedure of mastic, its usefulness and its beneficial effects. Chios has the privilege to monopolize the production of this product, since the mastic trees grow and flourish only in the southern part of the island, nowhere else in the world. If you are in Chios during the spring, you will surely enjoy the fragrant Kampos, the famous "lalades" (wild tulips), only in red color that are transforming the fields into a lush crimson sea.

Chios is the birthplace of Homer and within the area of Vrontados you can find the "Homer’s Stone" or "Daskalopetra" where Homer, according to tradition, taught his immortal epics. Archaeologists estimate that the flattened rock with the small temple of the goddess Cybele in the middle, along with the neighboring water spring must have been a tribute from the State or from a wealthy individual to the goddess and a sacred monument that served to worship her.
